Urban One is the leading voice speaking to Black America. They are the largest distributor of urban content in the country working across television, radio, and digital. In an effort to represent Black culture during an unprecedented year, it set out to recreate the HBCU Homecoming experience through a web platform called One Yard.
The goal for Champions was to create an identity that could bring the energy and excitement of an HBCU Homecoming online. To do so, we took inspiration from marching band insignia, typography of Black fraternities and sororities, and collegiate symbolism to build a system of icons that represent the diversity of offerings on the One Yard platform and the vibrancy of historically Black colleges and universities.
